The majority of the content is devoted to learning about institutions as the main creators of archival material and historical sources. The chronological overview systematically covers the areas of administration (secular and ecclesiastical), justice, economy, and social activities. The combination of historical geography and illustrations from archival sources enables students to master the subject matter synchronously, i.e., to orient themselves through time and space and to be able to judge where and how to search for sources for a specific research project.
