Explication of various aspects of philosophical analysis developed throughout the history of philosophy – aspects of regression, decomposition and transformation – with emphasis on logical philosophical analysis of early analytic tradition. Basic thematic field of the course is philosophy of logic and philosophical logic. Special attention shall be paid to the content and scope of sentences, proper names and predicates, and conceptual frameworks relating to the following topics: existence, description and identity, analytic/synthetic, necessity/possibility, nominalism/realism. Presentation of classical (Fregean Russellian) propositional and predicate logic, its Wittgenstein’s variant and the broadening of classical logic to the so-called alethic modal logic in Leibnizian and Kripkean style, as well as deontic modal logic and analysis of conditionals. The course provides students with basic knowledge of logicism, logical atomism, logical positivism, naturalism and the semantics and metaphysics of possible worlds.
