Introduction to cognitive neuroscience: theoretical underpinnings and history of cognitive neuroscience; what can brain tell us about psychology and what can psychology tell us about brains; basic disciplines and paradigms of cognitive neuroscience.
Cognitive psychology: what and how do behavioural research tell us about functional structure of human cognition; base theoretical approaches and models; base research paradigms and tools.
Cognitive neuropsychology and neuropsychiatry: what can theories of cognition tell us about properties and causes of cognitive dysfunction due to brain damage or disease, or psychiatric disorders; what do cognitive dysfunctions tell us about the structure and properties of the cognitive system; group and case studies of brain damages; psychopharmacological studies; brain damage simulations.
Neurophysiology: how can methods and techniques of tracking brain activity inform development of models of cognition; EEG basics; fundamental experimental paradigms in EEG use; analysis of EEG data; basics of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI); fundamental fMRI experimental paradigms; fMRI data analysis; other neuroimaging research methods.
Cognitive computational neuroscience: the significance of computer simulations for understanding cognition, model development and testing; approaches to modelling of cognitive functions; modelling activity of single neurons, neuronal circuits, neuronal systems; basic tools and software.
Selected cognitive neuroscience topics: visual perception; attention; consciousness; working memory; language and speech; cognitive control;
