The course consists of two units:
a) Consecutive interpreting and community interpreting: B-A
b) Consecutive interpreting and community interpreting I: A-B.
Basic consecutive interpreting skills. Memory exercises, summarizing and recapitulation (SL-SL, C-A, A-B). Developing the ability to synthesize. Exercises in presentation, delivering thematic speeches. Introduction to note-taking. An incremental approach to consecutive interpreting, increasing speech length and density. Developing confidence for public performance. The students also practice sight translation, chuchotage and simultaneous interpreting.
