The students are presented with research work in applied linguistics and interpreting studies: The connections between theoretical foundations, research methods and interpretation of results.
The students are presented with general communication strategies, which they can apply to academic discourse. The stress lies on getting acquainted with the specifics of academic discourse relation to other types of discourse. In independent project work, students focus on questions of (a) method selection and research methodology description, (b) planning, preparation and analysis of research material, (c) argumentation in discourse, and (d) linguistic and stylistic image of an LSP text in a framework of independent research work and its dissemination.
