Contemporary General History

The course primarily discusses the following issues: the prehistory of contemporary history; the end of the First World War; the revolutionary wave after it; peace treaties; the formation of new countries and social systems; the characteristics of the development of individual countries, especially the neigbouring ones; the characteristics of Fascism, Nazism and Communism; the Great Depression; the People's Front; the division of the world into the two camps that had clashed in the Second World War; the crisis focal points before the beginning of the war; the military and political events during the Second World War and the resistance movements during it; the end of the Second World War and its consequences; the UN and its role; the collapse of the anti-fascist coalition; the Cold War; the formation of blocs; the Non-Aligned Movement; the crisis focal points; decolonisation and the start of new countries; the economic, social and cultural issues of the post-war world; the world after the collapse of the Eastern bloc.
