The course is divided into two units:
a) Italian society and culture 2
b) Italian literature 2
Italian society and culture 2:
Italy at the beginning of the third millennium: economical and geograpnical aspects and their influence on the society; multiethnic culture, anthropologic aspects, social aspects, immigration issues; opening of commercial borders, the European Union, etc; social differences between northern, central, and southern Italy.
Italian literature 2:
Further discussions on the choices of the Italian literary language; Seicento: Baroque, melodrama; the birth of learned prose and Galileo; Settecento: Arcadia, commedia dell'arte and Goldoni's reform; Enlightenment; Neoclassicism, Romanticism: Vico, Foscolo, Leopardi, Manzoni; Verism: Verga, Carducci.
