The seminar takes a comparative lens to look at different perspectives (literary-historical, formal, subject matter, motif-theme) of the novel. On the one hand, it strives to strengthen the image of the novelistic canon (traditional and updated) and on the other to follow current trends in the world of literature and society as well as methodological shifts in the literary science. The general topics included in the seminar are: the modern novel, the contemporary novel, the postmodernist novel, the postcolonial novel, the African novel, the European novel, genre fiction, the novel and female writing, the novel and metaphysics, the novel and philosophy, death in the novel, the novel and ethics, the novel and enduring literary themes, the humour novel, the novel and experiment, theories of the novel.
