The course deals with: the characteristics and processes of language acquisition and the role of cognitive, social and affective factors in learners of different ages, a broad array of methods of teaching English according to varied learner needs, lesson planning and management, textbooks and other materials, assessment of learner progress, the role of the mother tongue in teaching/learning EFL, classroom management techniques, motivation in foreign language learning, the intercultural dimension of EFL, the use of games in EFL, project work, topic-based planning, task-based methodology, language portfolios for young learners etc.
