Lecturer(s): izr. prof. dr. Habinc Mateja
Lectures focus on the question of how time, space and various social factors influence cultures, ways of life and especially differences in social relations in Slovenia. The emphasis is on learning, analysing, and interpreting the material about the past while comparisons with contemporaneity are also indicated. Cyclical and linear perceptions of time, attitudes to time, calendars and diverse ways of rhythmizing are presented as well as the role of various territorial, generational and professional communities, ranging from more spatially extensive to more limited. Mentality and stereotyping, local, generational, professional and other communities and associations as well as knowledge about family life in Slovenia are also discussed. Research approaches and interpretations of social relations are analysed within the framework of ethnology and cultural anthropology in Slovenia while selected social theories are only indicated.
